The USA has got its candidate into power in Egypt.

Mohamed Morsi, 62, a US-trained engineer, has been declared president of Egypt by the powerful electoral commission.

The election turnout was 51%. Morsi thus got the support of about 25% of the electorate.

On 24 June 2012, in Nasr City in Cairo, tens of thousands of Egyptians chanted slogans against the Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohamed Morsi.

Many Egyptians do not want the USA's candidate, Mr Morsi, from California.

On 24 June 2012, in Egypt, a group of secular, liberal and leftist politicians accused the USA of meddling on behalf of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The Free Egyptians, the Tagammu, and the National Democratic Front  held a news conference accusing the Brotherhood of trying to blackmail elections officials with street demonstrations.

They accuse the United States of trying to sway the results in favour of Islamists.

"We have to protect the revolution from those who want to hijack it," said Osama el-Ghazali Harb of the Democratic Front.

"The rallies in the square reflect only lack of confidence, and an attempt to force the results in advance ... Real democracy means the courage to accept defeat."


Shafiq, who is opposed by the USA.

During the press conference, the liberals accused the United States of putting pressure on the ruling military council to hand power to the Brotherhood.

"We have seen the US forcing the military council to hand power to the Brotherhood," Harb said.

Activist Mahmoud al-Allali said U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton "is giving directions and instructions, directly and sharply."

Clinton has demanded that the military "support the democratic transition, to recede by turning over authority."

4. On 19 June 2012, a CIA-linked group, calling itself the Mujahideen Shura Council of Jerusalem, claimed responsibility for a cross-border attack along Israel's southern border with Egypt's Sinai Peninsula that killed an Arab construction worker, according to the SITE Intel Group.

In videos released by the Ibn Taymiyyah Media Center, a group of masked men stand in front of al Qaida-style flags claimed responsibility for the Sinai incident.

The group dedicated the attack to the CIA's Osama bin Laden. "We present this blessed invasion ... to the soul of the lion of Islam, the reviver of jihad, and the raiser of the banner, Sheikh Mujahid Osama bin Muhammad bin Laden."

If there is to be a Greater Israel, then Israel needs Egypt to be provoked into a fight.

PRESIDENT MURSI FROM CALIFORNIA?

Mohamed Mursi, reportedly with a little help from vote buying, is in the lead.

Mursi worked as a professor at California State University; Mursi is supported by the Muslim Brotherhood, which is believed to be run by the CIA and its friends; Mursi favours 'the free market'.

Fotouh believes the attacks on 9/11 were a U.S. government conspiracy.

Total voter turnout was 41%

Two villages in Upper Egypt boycotted elections to protest months-long shortages of bread and butane gas.

In the Upper Egyptian Qena governorate, Al-Ahram correspondent Mahmoud Dessouky reported a clear lack of enthusiasm among voters.

"There's little enthusiasm for voting again since the majority of people here are very poor, and these affluent candidates have little in common with ordinary people," Dessouky said.

The Egyptian Midhat Mursi is a chemist and alleged top bomb maker for al Qaeda and was part of Osama bin Laden's inner circle.

MIXED SEX

In Egypt, some Islamist candidates and religious scholars want to:

1. Destroy ancient monuments - seen as a form of idol worship

2. Ban mixed sex beaches

3. Ban bikinis

4. Ban alcohol

5. Ban gambling

Nader Bakkar, spokesman for the Salafist (Islamist) party says:

"We do want to see a type of Halal tourism ... such as segregation of beaches."

AFP reports:

"The fall of foreign currency reserves and the decline in tourism seriously complicates the economic situation," says Samer Suleiman, economics professor at the American University of Cairo.

"The large scores of Islamist parties in the first phase of elections will make investors nervous," he added.

The Muslim Brotherhood party and the fundamentalist Al-Nur (Salafi) party have won two thirds of the votes so far.

Both are committed to having sharia law.


Foreign investments have fallen from $6.8 billion in 2010 to $2.2 billion this year.

Foreign reserves have fallen from $36 billion at the beginning of the year to $20 billion.

By February, they are expected to fall to $15 billion, a level at which it will be difficult to pay for imports such as wheat, analysts say.

Egypt is the world's biggest wheat importer.

The army has recently lent the central bank $1 billion to help shore up its finances.

Inflation has reached 9.1%.

Israel has always seen Egypt as its main Arab enemy.

Israel is now happy.

The Islamists will ensure that the country is deeply divided - Islamists against Christians, Islamists against the military, Islamists against liberals, Islamists against Islamists.

Reportedly, the Muslim Brotherhood is run by the CIA and its friends.

The new Egypt

On 10 December 2011, The Economist reports on the Islamists everywhere on the rise:

1. In the first round of voting in Egypt:

The Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party has won 46% of the seats with 37% of the (party-list) vote.

The Salafist Party of Light, ('Nour' - puritanical extremist Wahhabi) has won 21% of the seats with 24% of the (party-list) vote.

The biggest secular (non religious) party got 10% of the seats.

Mubarak's party was banned.

The turnout was around 59%

2. Why vote for the Muslim Brotherhood?

They give financial help to widows.

They supply water buffaloes on easy repayment plans to landless peasants.

3. Why vote for the Salafists?

They distribute cut-price food.

They appear on Saudi-funded satellite TV channels.

Some Mubarak supporters voted for the Salafists, to frustrate the Muslim Brotherhood.

A weakened Egypt now provides Israel with a chance to grab the Sinai. Syria had better look out.

4. The Muslim Brotherhood's 80-page manifesto mentions neither Israel nor Palestine.

5. The Salafists want a 'restricted' democracy.

They want to ban alcohol, adopt the veil and segregate the sexes in public.
